Suckers for happy endings, CARES is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter that’s bettering animal welfare in the Mississippi Delta, one happy tail at a time. The vision for the Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort and Shelter (501c3) is to provide a safe haven for our community's animals, increase awareness of shelter pet availability, and inspire a sense of pride and responsibility for our community's shelter pet population. We want to love pets, love people, and help people that love their pets, keep their pets! In October of 2017, we moved into a bright new-to-us building that gave us 10x the physical space of the older facility. In addition to holding all of our animals indoors, this space boasts 2 adoption rooms, a kids' education room, a volunteer center, a dedicated medical room, and space for community programs.
